Sabrina Greelee welcomed his son Deandre in 1992, and since then she has been raising him, and his three other siblings successfully. She accompanies him during his games, and Dearnde pays tribute to her during games with touchdown celebrations. He shows his affection towards her with his actions, and in 2019, he talked about his admiration for his mother, where he told ESPN “I'm always picturing her, whenever I make a catch, her reaction,”.

It was an unfortunate event where she was attacked by the girlfriend of his boyfriend with liquid Red Devil Lye mixed with Clorox. She went into a coma right after the incident, and by the time she was able to come back to her consciousness, she found that she was blind.

In response to this incident, the football star once showed love and courage to his mother with his words ‘Although Mama has never had the chance to see me score a touchdown, all through college at Clemson and to this day in the NFL, I bring her the football after I reach the end zone.
\r\nYes, she is an acid-attack survivor who went through a severe burn and coma. The day she woke from a coma, she found out the world in front of her was dark, as the incident took her sight away.

It was a shock for her and her family, and it took her time to accept reality and come back to normal life. She chose not to attend any football events for his son. In an interview with ESPN in 2019, she said that it was Deandre's Junior high when he requested her to come and just be there.

Deandre wanted her to join his game, as he doesn’t care if she is not able to see, or not. And it was them, when she made the public appearance, and the rest of the world came to know the truth. The incident made her strong, and 10 years later she gained the courage to fight for women who shared the same journey. She started a nonprofit organization and also inspired the world by sharing her story in 2024 with a book published with the title Grant me Vision.

She narrated the story that back in 2002, she was at home when she found out that the man she was dating took her car away without her permission. On contacting him, she was asked to visit a location and take the car away. While she went there, things took a different turn, and she got attacked by his girlfriend with acid.

The incident was horrifying, and she lost her vision after going through the surgery, and burn fixing.

Sabrina Greenlee acid attacker was subject to 20 years in prison. But, she showed great courage and forgave the attacker once she realized that she needed to move forward. She is a mother and she needs to control her anger.

Greenlee once said "I knew that I had to forgive the people who offended me or left me there despite everything that I've been through. I did it for my children because I needed to get back to being a mother. That was very important for me”

Hopkins also said that "My mom put her ego to the side and cared about our feelings, and thought about us before herself".

Deandre Hopkins admitted the fact in 2016 in an interview with the Houston Chronicle, where he mentioned ' ‘As a single parent, she has truly done it all and I know she is proud to have all of her children attend college’’. She went through a life-changing incident, and raised herself from the ashes of burn to become a role model for acid-attack victims. To which Deandre Hopkins gave a heartfelt shoutout to his mother when she published her book Grant me Vision with these words on X

“Congratulations on your book launch Mom! This is my mom’s story of conquering motherhood. From selling drugs just to feed four kids, to overcoming depression from being blind. This is more than a book, it’s Us," he said.
