What Happened To Gandhi On Z100

Medha Gandhi, is known for her part as cohost on the Elvis Duran and The Morning Show on the radio station Z100. But suddenly, she disappeared from the show, leaving fans with the problematic question: what happened to Gandhi on Z100?

Fans speculated she had left the show, while some were worried about her health. It turned out to be a problem of the latter. The famous talk show cohost, unfortunately, had kidney stones that led to an infection for which she had to undergo surgery. Thankfully, she has made a full recovery.

How Did Medha’s Enter Into the Hosting World

Born December 13, 1988, in Ohio, this American of Indian descent has lived a full life relishing in the peak times of radio before mobile phones became the global technology. Growing up in the culture of radio, of course, made her fall in love with the whole genre of entertainment.

Before college, Medha had a knack for being a DJ and wanted to join the radio. After she graduated from Ohio State Uni, she went into a career full-time from small morning shows and talk show segments to a full-time piece with the legend himself, Elvis Duran.

Her love for radio took her from Ohio, where she grew up, to Miami. A city full of adventures to unfold. During this time, she met the love of her life, Brandon Zornes. The two had lived in Ohio their whole childhood and were, as they said once, “Frenemies.”

This led her to the Elvis Duran show, which she joined as a cohost.

Gandhi won the Gracie’s Award this year in 2024 for this amazing show!

What Happened to Gandhi on Z100 (Her Health Issues)?

What happened to Gandhi on Z100 during her time as a cohost has been nothing short of a tragic story. As her fame grew, the star suddenly went radio silent (pun intended). She was absent from the show, and a few weeks later, she called in to explain everything.

Gandhi had to be taken to the emergency room for an acute infection in her kidneys. This occurred due to kidney stones she had already. What’s crazier is that she also had appendicitis, was severely dehydrated, and got pneumonia.

This dangerous combination of infections in different systems of her body probably led to sepsis, which is an infection of the blood that affects the heart. The poor thing had to go through extensive surgeries and treatments on a direct IV line.

Fortunately, the doctors were able to save her life from further complications that could have been fatal. However, they haven’t been able to get to the root of the problem as there still isn’t any certain cause identified as to why Gandhi got all of these infections at once.

After weeks of recovery at the hospital, Gandhi returned to the Z100 show better than ever and continues to win hearts in her innovative and exciting segment.

Bloodline of Gandhi

Of course, the blood of a very noble man runs in the veins of Medha, and it shows, too. Her work as a philanthropist far exceeds her young age of 35.

According to her, being a descendant of Mahatma Gandhi has had a great impact on her life. In the US, it was a different story, as many people either didn’t believe her or those who did weren’t bothered much by it. While back in India, her life is completely different.

Understandably so, it comes with an urge to help people continuously. Medha has said once that she sometimes wished she was doing something else other than radio, a job in healthcare where she could help people more hands-on. But then she sees how her show allows people on a different level. Making people laugh on a bad day and cheering them up has been an absolute honor for her, and it just pushes her to do her job with that much more love.

Medha is currently partnered with the CHE Behavioural Health Services to promote awareness of and importance of mental health. She is also a part of charitable organizations like the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and the Alzheimer’s Association. Her innate need to give back to society and help her community comes from a long line of honorable people from a great family.

Conclusion

To conclude, Medha Gandhi started her career in radio after high school, which was a big step outside of her family’s usual career choices. She soon moved to New York and, in 2019, joined the Elvis Duran Morning Show.

What happened to Gandhi on Z100 was that after joining, she rose to become a listener’s favorite but suddenly went absent causing the concern for what happened to Gandhi on Z100.

We later found out that she had a severe health crisis involving multiple infections and had to go through surgeries and weeks of recovery before she came back to the show.

We wish her great success and hope she continues making this world a better place with her voice all over the world!
