Plenty of characters in Shameless struggle with integrity and basic human decency. Steve, also known as Jimmy or Jack, is a handsome guy who initially lied to Fiona about who he was.

Jimmy’s Trip Across the Seasons
In seasons 1-3, Jimmy Lishman is the main character. In seasons 4-5, he appears as a guest star. Fiona is a “dream girl” to Jimmy, a young man who pursues her and is willing to stop at nothing to get her. He spends a lot of money and owns expensive items. This bothers Fiona, but she discovers he’s a professional car thief. Later, he confesses that his true name is Jimmy while revealing that his wealthy family believes he is a medical student.
They began dating in Season 1, and Jimmy was determined to disobey his parents and even purchased the house next to the Gallagher family for them so that she could remain near her family. After fleeing from South America at the finale of Season 1 to expose his lifestyle, Jimmy returns in Season 2. Still, he brings Estefania as his new wife this time because Fiona doesn’t accompany him.
Fiona finds out that Jimmy entered into a marriage of comfort with Estefania, the daughter of a Brazilian mafia mob boss, to settle the debt that Jimmy owed Nando. If Jimmy doesn’t act as a loyal husband for Immigration Services, he threatens to kill him.
Even though he was married, he made a great effort to win Fiona back. Jimmy pulled off a few romantic gestures. After season 2, Jimmy and Fiona get back together, but he keeps his ongoing relationship with Estefania confidential.
What Happened to Jimmy on Shameless Season 3 in the Boat?
Jimmy switches between the two between Estefania and Fiona in Season 3. However, it makes sense with Jimmy’s Season 3 plot why some believed he had passed away and kept asking what happened to Jimmy on Shameless.
In addition to planning to attend medical school in Michigan during the 3rd season of the show, he had to deal with trying to get away from Estefania’s father, a drug lord from South America. For Estefania to obtain full citizenship, he decided to remain with her.
Since Jimmy has vanished, Fiona is beginning to worry. After several more attempts to call and search for his father, Dr. Ned Lishman, Fiona finally receives an envelope containing cash, seemingly from Jimmy. While Estefania meets immigration agents alone when Jimmy fails to answer calls and when she is unable to provide proof of the marriage, she is deported. Then, Nando possibly takes Jimmy on a boat to kill him. Jimmy and Estefania’s father were on a boat ride when the season ended.
It seemed that Jimmy did not survive the ride, but what happened to Jimmy on Shameless afterwards was unclear.
He is revealed to be alive in a post-credit scene of the season 4 finale, where he adopted the alias “Jack.”
Does Shameless End With Jimmy/Steve?
By the time of the series finale, Jimmy/Steve is still alive, but nobody knows where he has been.
He certainly does not pass away in the series, despite his near-death events and the turns and transformations of his story. It was strongly stated in Season 3 that Jimmy’s storyline came to a significant and seemingly definitive end when he was killed by a drug lord on a boat.
But the writers had something unexpected planned. He was brought back in Season 4, challenging the destiny of his fate from Season 3, and his reappearance also shocked and delighted viewers.
When he returned, it was clear that he had made it out of the terrible situation that had been described. Still, he quickly re-entered the Gallaghers’ lives, displaying his usual dramatic and problematic character.
Jimmy’s Last Comeback in Season 5
Fiona meets Jimmy at her restaurant job in season five. She goes to sleep with him and tricks her husband, Gus, even though she is upset with him for leaving her. Gus later hears Fiona’s confession, and the three decide to get together at a restaurant to talk about the affair. Jimmy was swiftly punched in the face by Gus. Fiona talks with Jimmy.
To Jimmy’s disbelief, Fiona tells him she can’t see him anymore after the fight. He then rides off on his bike as Fiona leaves. That’s the last time Jimmy appears on Shameless.
